James Riley - Marketing Apprentice

James is our Marketing Apprentice, he is 22 and is currently studying a Level 3 Business Administration course. James left college after studying Media and decided that he wanted to earn whilst he learned. This made him look into apprenticeships, as he felt he would not benefit from studying at a university. “I feel that in today’s modern word, education is important but also gaining experience is just as important as studying”.

Some of the many roles that are included in James’s Marketing role is brand awareness, events organising, creating visual images and graphics, maintaining and updating the companies’ social media accounts, helping keep our website and online shop looking good from a visual perspective amongst many more. “What I enjoy most about my role is that no day is the same in our small department. I get to use some of my favourite subjects and skills such as writing articles, I enjoyed English language at school & college so using it in my day to day job is amazing, I also get to create images and various graphics and not many people say they get paid to tweet!”

James is one year into his apprenticeship and has six months left of his course. His tutor has always been impressed with the work he has created, going out of the way and exceeding past the criteria that is needed whilst always being far ahead of where his target progress. “What I enjoy about my course is that I have no days at college, the work I do for the company goes towards my portfolio. I hope to stay in the marketing industry, and carry on learning more once my apprenticeship is completed”
