Net Zero targets validated by SBTi
Mail Solutions has achieved a remarkable environmental milestone, following the validation of its net-zero targets by the prestigious Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This validation demonstrates the company's commitment to aligning its business operations with the latest climate science and playing its part in the global fight against climate change.
The SBTi validation confirms that Mail Solutions' goals are in line with the Paris Agreement’s target to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. This is a significant achievement, as the SBTi's standards are internationally recognised for their rigor in ensuring corporate emissions reduction targets are both ambitious and scientifically sound.
Our Targets: (using 2019 as a baseline year)
- Reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 46% by 2030, while also measuring and reducing Scope 3 emissions.
- Achieve net-zero by 2050 by reducing emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3 by 100%.
These ambitious goals reflect Mail Solutions' unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. The company has laid out a detailed roadmap to achieve these targets, focusing on several key strategic initiatives.
Key Strategic Actions:
- Investment in energy-efficient technologies: Upgrading facilities and equipment to reduce energy consumption and emissions.
- Streamlining supply chain operations: Working with suppliers to implement sustainable practices and lower emissions throughout the supply chain.
- Exploring renewable energy sources: Investigating the use of solar, wind, and other renewable energy solutions to power its operations.
- Collaborating with stakeholders: Encouraging suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to join in collective efforts to reduce carbon footprints, fostering a unified approach to sustainability.
Jon Higson, Group Finance Director said, “This is a fantastic achievement for our business. Having our carbon reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative underlines the seriousness of our commitment. We are proud to be aligning our efforts with globally recognised climate science and working towards a more sustainable future.”
“As a company, we understand the economic implications of climate change, and the necessity to future-proof our business. Reducing our carbon footprint is not only a moral responsibility but also a sound business decision. We are increasingly seeing that consumers, investors, and stakeholders prefer to engage with businesses that are proactively addressing environmental issues. This validation gives us confidence that we are making the right choices for both the environment and the long-term growth of our company“.
